Before You Sign

Paste any contract — a lease, a loan, a gym, phone or storage plan, a medical consent form, a freelance agreement. See the clauses that quietly cost you money or rights, in plain English, each with a line you can send to ask for a fix. It runs in your browser: nothing you paste is uploaded, and there's no account.

What it looks for, in plain English

Auto-renewal (evergreen) clauses

The contract renews itself — often for another full term — unless you cancel inside a short window. It's the #1 way people stay billed for things they meant to end.

Mandatory arbitration & class-action waivers

You give up the right to sue or join a group lawsuit; disputes go to private arbitration you often can't appeal.

Early-termination & cancellation fees

A charge for leaving early — sometimes the rest of the contract's value. Know the number before you're stuck with it.

Price-change clauses

Language letting the other side raise the price or change the terms after you sign.

Personal guarantees, liens & confession of judgment

Serious clauses that put your personal assets, your property, or an automatic court judgment on the line. Rare in consumer deals — a red flag when present.

A checklist of common surprises, not legal advice. For anything high-stakes, have a lawyer read it.
